Bonnie Vent is the owner of the San Diego
Paranormal Research Project. Her research of paranormal activity
in the San Diego area is widely known. She received an Excellence
Award for her research from her colleagues at Sacramento
Paranormal Investigators.
Bonnie is known as the “resident”
psychic at the Villa Montezuma, where she has channeled
information that has been proven by historical fact. Bonnie is
considered to be a “Spirit Advocate” since she represents
those who have crossed over in correcting the issues that are
keeping them Earth bound. She has assisted Thomas and Anna Whaley
of the World Famous Whaley House in Old Town and Jesse Shepard of
the Villa Montezuma in Sherman Heights. These projects are still
on-going.

GhostMag:
So, how do the spirit guides assist you when you do an investigation?
|
Bonnie: I don't do investigations
in the traditional sense. I receive action items from the other side to
carry out. I am given a ‘list’ or a ‘mission’ to carry out from
the other side. Then, I do it. Bonnie goes on to state that sometimes it doesn’t make perfect
sense to her, but that over the years she has learned to trust in these
‘suggestions’. They have led her to some startling discoveries.
|
GhostMag:
So you receive ‘mission’ objectives from the other side. How would you
classify yourself, then. Do you call yourself a psychic or a medium?
| Bonnie: Psychic has a bad ring to
it. I do have all those abilities but I go so much further than that. I
actually get action items and spend a lot of time doing research on the
information I receive intuitively. It is a joint effort between my master
guide and the spirit. I do not do anything without my guides. |
GhostMag:
You have been at this for a while now. In the beginning what was the
reaction from family and friends as you have continued your work and how
did you respond to their questions or statements?
| Bonnie: Most of my friends have
watched the evolution and are supportive. Up until last February I had a
job in Technology and did this on the side. There is something about
having a passion for the work you do that calms the concerns of family.
They can just sense that I am doing the right thing. You also have to not
care what people think. Most will be very skeptical. Everyone wants to
know what happens after we die. The universe tries to provide the answers
but we do not believe what we see and hear. |
GhostMag:
Sometimes that can extend to even the most experienced of ghost hunters,
wouldn’t you agree? Do you have any pet peeves where ghost hunting is
concerned?
| Bonnie: Most are doing this as a
hobby and that is fine. They need to go deeper into communication. I have
orb photos posted on my website and that is where most leave off. It is
just the beginning. |
GhostMag:
How do they do this? Go beyond orbs, I mean?
| Bonnie: If they do not have the
ability to hear they can always try for EVP. |
GhostMag:
What are the other indicators?
| Bonnie: Having the ability to
communicate I can tell you they do not have to be present in the room for
me to hear them. Rather like a telephone. They are there and I am here but
I can still hear them. |
GhostMag:
Ah.. that would explain how EVP can sometimes be recorded but without
substantiating readings from EMF.
| Bonnie: That is also why the EMF
meter does not register but I still hear them. |
GhostMag:
Why did you get into paranormal investigating?
| Bonnie: It came naturally. Spirit
knocked on my door. |
GhostMag:
How so? And how old were you at the time?
| Bonnie: I was born with psychic
abilities. You could say I am living my life’s purpose. I am a spirit advocate. I assist them with unfinished business. |
GhostMag:
That's interesting... because many ghost investigators investigate for
other reasons... for the living... you represent or aid the deceased.
| Bonnie: Actually, I assist anyone
in need. Spirit also needs help on occasion. |
GhostMag:
Of all the investigations that you have done, is there one that stands out
as being a particularly good investigation, and why?
| Bonnie: The Villa Montezuma is an
on-going event. I have the ability to channel Jesse Shepard. He is the
original owner and designer of the house. He has become somewhat of a
mentor. He passed in 1927 and wrote under the name Francis Grierson. I met him at the house. He followed me on the history tour. I asked the
docent afterward who he was. |
GhostMag:
Was the docent surprised at your question?
| Bonnie: Jesse was a spiritualist
here in San Diego. He lived here from 1887-1889. The docent actually lives in the house. There is another spirit there
as well. Her name is Amelia Jaeger. He had his own encounter with her. |
GhostMag:
Do you charge for your investigations?
| Bonnie: I do not charge for
investigations. It is research and really a task that is beyond money. I
might be doing some TV in the future where I will be paid. Too soon to
tell. |
GhostMag:
Where do you foresee the profession of paranormal investigating heading?
| Bonnie: I would like to see it
become better rounded. History and mystery need to blend together. Also
the scientific needs to blend with the spiritual. Scientists do not ask
the right questions. They are trying to quantify with known science
something that defies what we now know. |
GhostMag:
Do you work with a team, Bonnie?
| Bonnie: No...I always work alone.
The energies and agendas can make it more difficult with a team. I need
quiet, as well, in order to hear them. |
GhostMag:
Isn’t it dangerous to work alone?
| Bonnie: No...I only go where I am
lead to go. I do work with the people who are the most knowledgeable on
the history side. |
GhostMag:
Do you have any messages tonight for the Editors of Ghost!Magazine, beyond
the interview, or anything THEY want the readers to know?
| Bonnie: They want you to know that
your magazine will have an impact. You are on the ground floor of
something much bigger than you realize. They will be providing the
necessary people to get the word out. You are a big part of this puzzle. |
GhostMag:
Thank you so much, Bonnie, for taking time to share with us your
remarkable insight into the other side of this ghost hunting equation.
| Bonnie: It was my pleasure. |
As Bonnie hinted, look for her soon on a television channel near you.
