At a time when most people are settling in to watch the movie of the week, the
North Florida Paranormal Research group (NFPR, Inc. Ghost Tracker Investigations) are gearing up to go hunting. Coons? Fish? Snipe? Nope. These dedicated group of paranormal investigators are researching and gathering evidence of life after death: ghosts.
Leading the group is long time veteran of the metaphysical, Jeff Reynolds. Dressed in his trademark Indiana Jones fedora, Reynolds (pictured
right) is a man on a mission in the Sunshine State. Many of the members of the Ghost Tracker group will wryly grin when asked about all the scoffing and ridicule that they take due to their nocturnal activities.
"The problem has been that nothing in our society has served as a point of reference for dealing with paranormal interactions between people in the physical and those in the spirit," offers Reynolds. "When people are confronted with unexplained phenomenon happening to them, in their home, or at their place of business, they have no idea where to turn or how to deal with it. Then, all of a sudden we aren't so crazy and we aren't so weird."
To date Ghost Tracker has actively pursued investigations both nationally and internationally, from Florida to California and as far away as Belize and Honduras. Reynolds (pictured with with wife Deborah) regularly makes appearances on TBS, NBC, and the Discovery Channel, and hosts Haunted History Tours.
Others in the group, such as Cameo Tift (pictured to the
right) quickly chime in to say that Ghost Tracker is organized. Ghost Tracker is comprised of 'core' members as well as affiliate members. Core members are the main investigative group, while the affiliate members support the group by doing many of the administrative, behind the scenes work that enable the investigators to do their job, along with doing many investigations in their own area that the core team may not be able to travel to.
So this, of course, begs the question: What does Ghost Tracker do that makes them one of the premier Ghost Research Groups in Florida?
"I think our philosophy is simple," says Reynolds as he ticks off the points on his fingers. "People come first. We've heard from hundreds upon hundreds of people who are afraid. If they need help, answers, information, we are here first and foremost for these people. These things are real, and we're just trying to provide answers."
"Jeff has run this organization professionally from the beginning," says Matt Ferrell, who has been a paranormal investigator with the Ghost Tracker team for years. "That's why people call Ghost Tracker first, and why Ghost Tracker has really moved beyond a 'ghost hunting' club to become a research organization, filled with dedicated people from all walks of life." Reynolds, along with co-founders of GHOST! Magazine Melody Bussey and Matt
Ferrell, hosted a weekly radio show for about a year called Ghost Tracker Radio
that expanded Ghost Tracker's visibility and furthered their goals of offering
information to those who seek answers about life after death.
"Ghost Tracker Radio really offers something for everyone," says Bussey. "It's
more than a reporting of North Florida Paranormal's activities. The show is here
for everyone in the ghost hunting community... which is a very large community,
by the way, and gives them time and space on the air, which is a first."
Bussey also states that “the radio show was designed to provide a forum
dedicated to connecting all of the ghost hunting groups globally with the idea
of sharing information, comparing notes, and hopefully, gaining a better insight
into what the research is yielding.”
Ghost Tracker and North Florida Paranormal Research, Inc. sponsor a great deal
of community projects including haunted history tours of the downtown
Jacksonville Area. Some of their most notable investigations have taken place at
The Myrtles Plantation, Ripley’s Believe it or Not Museum, and The Castle Inn.
On each hunt, fellow researchers follow specific scientific protocols established many years before.

"You don't get rich hunting ghosts," laughs Reynolds. "But, if Ghost Tracker helps one person to deal with and overcome their problems, provides some answer which benefits the living, then it more than pays for itself, here, on the inside."
